First off a big hello to all our mates who have survived a long summer holiday, with the kids due back at school this week - we wish them well. The new term doesnt start here till Jan, after our summer holidays.
So tomorrow is our first day of spring and after a few days of 28/29 degrees it went back to a lovely 22 degrees today. There are really only 2 seasons in Queensland hot and a brief winter so I am all for extending the nice easy to work in winter months. However, Autumn was always my favourite season back home - the leaves falling from the trees, yes my birthday too but thats coincidental, the coolness but not cold yet. But mostly the colours of the leaves etc - sad I know but between that and my other favourite thing clouds I guess everyone is allowed a few questionable likes.....
Jack got student of the week today but he also got sent to the office for not doing his work and general 7 year old misbehaviour so a confused reaction from us tonight. Bless him its hard to know how to get him to remember how to do the right thing all the time, I havent exactly been terribly constructive myself today - applied for 2 jobs, burnt a cake which went straight in the bin and made a veggie lagasne that wasnt too impressive - everyone has off days.
So six weeks into my unemployed state - and statisically I am right on track according to the latest it is taking 9-10 weeks for those who have been made redundant to get new work. I saw a new job today, applied for it and it had been taken off the listing within a few hours - so many applications. On average every job I apply for is getting between 50-75 applicants. I have applied for 29 jobs, had two interviews - didnt make the cut for the 2nd interview but at least the government are paying for some training - I am doing word 07, excel 07, powerpoint 07 and MYOB (common accountancy package) 3 mornings a week and also doing some trading of skills for the owner of the training company - updating their marketing in exchange for a free course when these have finished. Fair enough. But it is getting me down - not working - not contributing but I am getting to spend more time with Jack which is lovely and generally (but not today) my cooking is better because of having more time and I am getting some jobs done round the house, as well as trying to get a date to take the citizenship test here.
Wishing for some visitors though - that would be lovely...any takers....welcome any time :-)
