The last few weeks, well month really have been filled with lots of nothingness (standard getting up, going to work, going to bed) and some really cool times.
I guess working from the first one to now:
Snorkling - some mates were moving to London, to try it out for a few years so before they went we all booked into the the Marriott Hotel at Surfers Paradise for one night so that we could snorkle in their lagoon filled with all sorts of fish. They had a little rock pool area, perfect for Jack - got really close especially when he had fish guts in this hand to feed them, yuck! But they also had a deep area which freaked me out initially but by the 2nd day I not only felt confident about swimming across it but with Jack also holding my hand at the same time. Jack also loved the spa - a very warm, rock pool area which when you sat on the jets of water inflated your rash vest - Jack liked the muscle man look. So a great send off we hope for Cheryl and Joel - we wish them all the best in London - we think they will love it.
Leonardo da vinci exhibition - Jack has a book on his machines - given to him by Cheryl and Joel actually last year, and so when we saw the exhibition was on we went into the city and Jack loved it - lots of different machines and ideas and thing to look at and touch - Jack (whose work at school has been pretty rubbish recently) had to write about it in his project book, for us to transfer to his blog. (He is sending out the address to his mates so that you can read all about it and look at the photos from the day - but just send an email if you want the blog address before then.)
And other news my cousin Denise is renewing her vows after 10 years of marraige in the next couple of weeks - they had a small wedding last time so this one has all the trimmings and stresses of trying to get what they want and keeping everyone happy - my Dad is walking her down the aisle so I am hoping for lots of pictures in the next few weeks.
Jims Dad turns 60 next week - so happy birthday - enjoy the bus pass and we will see you soon.
Jacks on holidays from Friday - two weeks off at vacation club - but at least his school hasnt closed because of swine flu - otherwise he would really get to find out what work is like when he would have to come in with me.....

PJ Day
Jack is wearing pyjamas to school today - all in aid of St Vincent de Paul - instead of a gold coin donation he has to bring in soups, tea, coffee etc as today is the 1st official day of winter.
He was quite pleased to be wearing his new Transformers PJ's but couldn't bring himself to wear his dressing gown - don't know if it was the Thomas the Tank Engine or the fact that it was a dressing gown!
I helped out at the Brisbane Writers festival at the weekend, they are getting everything ready for the schools program when it all starts in September. It was lovely to have a bit of time and I ended up paying to go into the textile art festival in the exhibition centre - it is amazing what people can do with needle, thread, wool etc - I am contemplating getting a sewing machine and would love one on offer there but $3.5k for a sewing machine would definately be grounds for divorce :-)
Our mates Mart and Daz baby is due any minute now so we wish them all the best.
