Kids do bounce....sometimes

Our poor Jack has had the misfortune to break his right arm - both bones just above the wrist. At least he is left handed.

It happened at after school club on Wednesday at about 4.30pm - I got the call but the mobile kept cutting out so after establishing the details I made it back to the school in record time. He had calmed down by then and was sitting eating an ice lolly (ice block in aussie lingo) - his 2nd in fact. He didnt even fall that far, just awkwardly and unfortunately for him, it just was a bit much for his hand.

He was being ever so brave though - I took him to the local hospital - at first glance they could tell it was definately broken but that wasnt the only thing broken - their x-ray machine was too.

So after a good while waiting to see the doctors and getting temporalily strapped up we had to go to the Mater hospital - the kids hospital in the city- I popped home and picked up Peggy (the GPS) and Jim who had just arrived home, having to ignore the lovely smell of garlic bread that Sally had made for our tea - Jack wasnt allowed anything in case he needed any injections so it seemed unfair to eat in front of him.

We got to the hospital - and the x-rays were done - Jack loved this bit and enjoyed seeing his arm bones. I certainly couldnt work in a kids hospital -all the poor kids with cuts and all sorts- screaming in pain - it was very upsetting. But our brave boy did all that was required of him even with the plaster cast being put on.

So out by 10.30pm (from getting the call at 4.30pm) so pizza on the way home.

Jack was off, and me too, yesterday and he was meant to go back to school today Friday but a mixture of genuine pain and feeling a bit sorry for himself he didnt go in today. He is currently out with his aunt sal and cousin jacob while I work from home (I am waiting for a large file to save so I am working).

So he gets a different cast on Tuesday so not many days to get people to sign it....he is going to be very popular at school on Monday.

So take care everyone......
