So much for our weekend at Surfers

Ok so we had a lovely relaxing breakfast, an hour in the sea before the next thunderstorm arrived and we got soaked to the skin....good thing I had packed some spare clothes in case we decided to stay overnight....but it was fun and at least it wasnt cold....in fact it was really hot 90% humidity and 33degrees.

Jims sis Sally and her georgous lad Jacob arrive tonight from Perth for a few weeks break before they head to Tasmania to live and Jack starts Grade 2 tomorrow so its never dull.

And its our mate - Martines birthday - now living in British Virgin Islands and 20 weeks pregnant - we wish her well.....

We made a few phone calls at the weekend - it was good to catch up - keep your chins up and your humour intact and we will be in touch more often....so the next time it rings - it might just be us.

Never one for making resolutions...

...however, there is nothing wrong with deciding to do things a bit differently at the same time as a new year!

So this Australia Day weekend we are off to Surfers Paradise to have a whole day of being at the beach, in the hotel pool and staying overnight so we can enjoy it all for longer.....

First day back...what a struggle

Well Happy New Year to everyone.

It's my first day back at work after 2 weeks off and I am struggling to stay motivated, to stay awake and to not skip out early. But I am in the lucky position of being back a week before everyone else and everything I need to do is to get me ahead so its in my best interests to get my jobs done so I don't have a mountain of things to do when everyone else comes back in.

So Christmas and holidays and 2009 - well Mum and Dad are here and we started off the holidays by having a few days at Surfers Paradise - key moment: (Jack boogie boarding in the sea shouting at the top of his voice" I love it, I love it.")

Christmas morning - key moment: (Jack had forgotten what to do when he came across his full sack from Father Christmas and he slept in till after 6.30am and we had Grandad Ellis on skype and Nana and Grandad Rooney on the coach so everyone was involved)

Boxing Day- key moments: (virus on the computer so Jim having the spend most of the day and some of the night taking it all back to basics- saving as much as we can and reinstalling everything) but on the upside - (Dad and Jack made crepe suisettes - very yummy)

Key places visited so far: Ipswich rail museum, Brisbane museum, Lamington National Park, Port of Brisbane (lots of bloody insect bites), Sirromet winery (big hit),beach, pool and currently Mum, Dad and Jack are in Perth - I think today they are visiting Aunt Sal, Jay and Jacob but Jack has been feeding Chickens and eating huge king prawns.

Jim and I actually have space to do what we like so we have been into the city and didn't worry about what time we got back, we drove 2.5 hours to Byron bay for coffee and cake and we have made arrangements for drinks out with friends during the week. Do we miss Jack - of course but equally a whole week, even with having to be at work, of not having to rush home to collect Jack and get him to bed - yeah we will make the most of it for sure.

We have Sharon, Warren and Cormack travelling up from Melbourne - last heard around Broken Hill and we might even have my uncle Brendan from Cairns coming our direction before Mum and Dad head back on 15th.

So heres to a full 2009 - full of fun, friends, visits and more trips to surfers and getting closer to our goals, ambitions and trying new things......as a family.
