Looking on the bright side of life

I have got a really bad cold - feel dreadful but to confirm that there is always something lovely happening in our lifes - if we just look: Jack came in this morning and patted me on the back to make me feel better and then said I looked beautiful. He's such a love.

Mountains made of glass

On Sunday we again jumped in the car to see where we could explore in a day. The weather was overcast and rain was forecast so armed with hats, raincoats and a small picnic we headed north to the Glasshouse mountains.

This range of mountains can be seen for miles and is just past Steve Irwin Way (no joke) past Australia Zoo - this was the first point in the journey Jack had looked up from his drawings to acknowledge the huge poster of crocodiles and scary Bindi. (Steve Irwins daughter, the new star attraction).

As we drove it was amazing to see the amount of trees, miles and miles of them. Fantastic greens with the flickering sun playing through the branches. Jim got out to take a few photos, when a man in a van stopped to ask what Jim could see. When Jim said he was taking photos of the trees he was astonished and dumbfounded (or maybe just dumb!) as to why someone would take photos of just the trees?

We saw a sign saying Mt Beerwurrah so we turned and found ourselves on a dirt track, our little car doesn't like dirt tracks but it wasn't far before we were at the end of a 280m mountain climb. Not far to climb but boy was it steep, practically vertical in parts. The view was worth it, a full 360 of the remaining volcanic mountains stretching for miles and those trees again, but seeing the full extent of how far they go.

Jack though thought it was all very nice and everything but where was the crystal skull? Jack who currently is unable to to last five minutes without humming the Indiana Jones theme tune, was having his own adventure on our climb as he proceeded to jump over snakes (imaginary), fight his way past huge boulders (definitely there but static) and to open secret passageways.

We had a snack back at the bottom, before heading once more towards the glasshouse mountains. On the way we found a fantastic little cafe with views of mango trees, two of the mountains, with home made scones, locally grown coffee and wild kangaroos (we didn't actually see any but we were assured they were there).

At the glasshouse mountains lookout Jack searched for all the mosaics scattered around - of the mountains and the wildlife, then a stroll around before making our way back home, the scenic, non rushed route.

It was lovely and definitely a place to take our next visitors, who ever they may be. And we had Monday (Queens birthday bless her) off so a short week to boot.

Sex and the City v Trinny and Suzannah

Tuesday night I had the good fortune to score some tickets to the Gianni's portside corporate evening complete with free sex and the city tickets, free cocktails, champers and whatever else you desired. This was work related but in reality with 98% of the audience being drunk women very quickly my director realised not only was he one of the few men, it was not quite what he expected. I on the other hand met some lovely ladies from companies we have dealings with and so we had a laugh, watched the male tap dancers do their thing and we will meet for lunch in the near future. ( I will go see the film next week).

However points to note - I am out of practice of drinking alcohol - there I said it - the truth is out - I can no longer drink anyone under the table - unless it is a very small table and I am drinking with a tee totaller!!!! So going home on the train I was tipsy, I had to get off the train to use the facilities and Jim laughed at me when I got in. I did not have a hangover however I was more tired than usual having to drive to the Gold Coast for a day of meetings the next morning and I went to bed very early last night. I am such a light weight.

Which brings me to the female molesters of TV - Trinny and Suzannah - they are showing their last series over here now and one of them was about most women not wearing the right bra size. Jim the love that he is bought, me the most fantastic, sexy red dress when we went to Mt Tamborine, for our wedding anniversary to wear at Danielle's wedding and now I need to buy new underwear to go with it. I have been in two shops so far, neither have a bra that works with the dress and both told me completely different sizes I should be wearing. It doesn't help that the sizes are completely different than the UK.

So I think I may have to search a bit more, get some more comparisons on sizes and keep looking. I still have time on my side at least.

And on another note - belated as it is: our friends Del and Jo have a beautiful baby boy - Joshua - born last month.
